Pambula. Beaches, Caravan Park, friends. Not such a bad place to go. Seriously, if my family wasn't there, it'd be paradise.
Nah, it's really just my sisters that dampen the experience.
Pambula is a little ways away from Merimbula. The place we're staying is called the Holiday Hub, and it's popular. But it's good. We managed to get a spot right next to the beach, which is cool, because the only thing to do is bodyboard.
At night I plan to spend my time playing PSP. By the way, I got 1500 Takedowns today. I'm very proud.
Nothing much else is really going on. Me and my friends have realised that we don't like this guy who hangs with us anymore. He's just a depresser, leeching off the hapiness of those he associates with.
Okay, I just remembered. The other day, my Dad found the Firefly DVD at the video store. So he called me up and asked if I'd like him to drop it off when he's in the neighbourhood. I said yes, because I'd already seen Serenity, and it fucking owns. Without any previous knowledge, I proudly say that Serenity owns.

Alright, so the DVD contained 8 episodes. I watched them all over about a 6 hour period. Wow...
Firefly is one of those shows you just pickup one day, and watch, and after you just sit there and think "Does writing of that quality really exist, or am I merely dreaming again?".
Joss Whedon has done an extraordinary job with Firefly. He brought us the likes of Angel and Buffy, but personally I think Firefly outshines both. Just the whole character scene alone beats Angel, and the action is unmatched. Each story has parts that show more and more of the characters, and what they are in essence. I think this is Firefly's strongest aspect, it's characters.
Firefly follows the story of Malcolm Reynolds, an ex-sargeant in a war fought on futuristic planets. He was on the losing side, called the Independants. The whole story is so deep I can't explain all of it, so I'll just summarise:
1) Earth became crowded, so we all migrated to new solar systems to find more space.
2) Through a process called "Terraforming", we morphed planets so that they became liveable.
3) A group of people got together and decided the planets should be united. They called themselves The Alliance (appropriately).
4) The Alliance went to the other planets telling them to submit to their government or die.
5) A group opposed The Alliance. They were called The Independants, who thought the planets should be able to govern themselves.
6) Bloody wars ensued, ending in a place called Serenity Valley. The Independants, let by Malcolm Reynolds (Mal) fought The Alliance, and 2 months later, they lost.
So Mal (in Firefly) grabbed himself a ship, put together a crew (consisting of his second-in-command during the war, Zoe) and took to the pirate's life.
Mal and his crew are different than the normal pirates though. They're very moral, and instead of always seeing the payout, they generally do what's best for the majority (as long as the majority isn't The Alliance).
I suggest everybody goes out and at least rents/obtains a copy of a Firefly episode. It's marvelous.

That's about it. Just watching an episode of LOST. Thinking of going over one of the Firefly scripts later, as I haven't seen some episodes. It's a shame FOX cancelled Firefly before it's time. The fanbase alone should prove it was worth keeping. Maybe in the future...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to my readers.
It is now officially Winter-EEN-mas. So go to www.wintereenmas.com to find out how to celebrate for the whole month of WEMas.
I promise 2006 will be a new year of SO entertainment. We will delve into the geeky where no geek has gone before.
As ever, I shall still report on real-world goings-on, and my opinion about them. But hey, it's the New Year. We won't be hearing stories like those for at least another day or two.

So yeah, Happy New Year, and Happy Wintereemas.
Good Gaming
